Mardela Speedway History
Mardela Speedway was carved out in 1961 by Al Cusick. Al was well known on the Eastern Shore for his involvement in local motorsports racing. In the '70s, the sandy track surface was paved and Mardela Speedway became a WKA sanctioned Asphalt Oval Track. Raymond Nichols ran the track the track throughout the '80s. The McFarlane family ripped up the asphalt around 1993 and returned the track to its dirt heritage. In 1995, a childhood friend of Ace allowed him to ride in a kart and Ace was hooked. Cindy and Ace took ownership of the track between 2014-2016 and had countless loads of red clay brought up from North Carolina to make the track the best oval kart track surface on DelMarVa.
